Help » Adding Links to Your Web Page

A hyperlink is a reference or link from one particular point in a web page file to particular point in another file OR another place in the same file. When a user clicks on the link in your web page with the mouse, the browser will display the target of the link. Some people like to include links to the websites of their employers, schools, places that they have volunteered, etc. A link can be added to either an image or a portion of text.

Creating a Link to an External Web Page

Make a link

1. Highlight the text in your content that you want to link from (or select the image if you wanted to make a link from an image) and click on the "Link" button in the editor toolbar (looks like a small chain link). The Link Destination box will then open up.

Create a link

2. Select "External Web Page" on the left side of the screen, under "External Links".

3. Type (or copy and paste) the website address into the Link Destination field.

4. Select whether you want the link to open up in the same window or open up in a new window. Opening in the current window will replace your website with the linked website. Opening in a new window will leave your website in the current window so the person can return to it, and open the linked website in a new browser window.

5. Click OK.

6. NOTE: If you would like to create a link on one page of your site to another page on your site, you can select the page to link to from the Page list.
